For over 50 years, Frank Frazetta dominated the art world with his images of fierce warriors, helpless princesses, and fantastical creatures set in the most lavish landscapes. His impact upon the worlds of fantasy art and film was unparalleled, and it can be seen to this day in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Amazingly, he managed to do this while nearly dying because of an undiagnosed thyroid condition. Even more astonishing was his ability to survive six strokes, which forced him to switch from drawing with his right hand to drawing with his left hand.

Kate Croy s mother was born to wealth and privilege, but she threw it all away to marry Kate s father, a penniless opium addict who admits to having stolen from his wife. The condition of Dede, who is now 36, has baffled doctors. He suffers from a rare disorder which causes warts to sprout from his limbs like the branches of a tree. It follows the efforts of a US dermatologist, Dr Anthony Gaspari of the University of Maryland, who travels to Dede's home village south of Jakarta to investigate the condition and offer treatment which possibly could transform his life. The 'roots' began growing in Dede's teens after he cut his knee in an accident. They spread with terrifying speed and he was left unable to carry out everyday tasks. He was sacked from his job, his wife left him and he was forced to join a local 'freak show' in order to put food on the table for his two children. Although supported by his extended family, he was often a target of abuse and ridicule in his rural fishing village.
