The Ramones - Halfway To Sanity (1987) [ORG] LOADFLAC+CUE+LOG or MP3 CBR 320 | 30:06 min | 204 or 70 MB | " | The late-eighties Ramones album formula went something like this: One crunchy, metallic mid-tempo number, an ode or two to girls or cars, a few songs by drummer Ritchie and a one or two hardcore punk numbers, preferably sung by Dee Dee. While Halfway To Sanity does follow this formula, it benefits from strong songwriting (particuarly on Dee Dee's part, making up from an almost absent Joey) and crisp production courtesy of old friend Daniel Rey (ex-Masters of Reality). The chunky metallic number is "I Wanna Live", which rightly became an MTV staple for a few months. The Richie songs are a bit hit-and-miss this time around (the forgettable "I Know Better Now"), though "I'm Not Jesus" is a hardcore classic. Dee Dee's turn at playing Speed Racer, "I Lost My Mind", tears by so quickly and enjoyably that is only later that you realize the song has only three lines in it repeated over and over again. The added highlight of Debbie Harry's guest vocals on a raved-up "Go Lil' Camaro Go" makes Halfway To Sanity a strong late-period Ramones record. | " | Tracklist: |

The Ramones - Brain Drain (1989) [ORG] LOADFLAC+CUE+LOG or MP3 CBR 320 | 35:07 min | 259 or 80 MB | " | In the case of Brain Drain this turns out to be a mistake, as it's the album most evocative of the classic Ramones sound since Subterranean Jungle. "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)" and the cover of "Palisades Park" are so lavishly produced that they could have been outtakes from the Phil Spector sessions (though minus the negative karma that accompanied that time period). "Don't Bust My Chops" finds the Ramones revisiting the crunchy guitar sound of the mid-'80s albums, only with better hooks this time around. "Zero Zero UFO" returns the boys to familiar goofball territory and "All Screwed Up" keeps them there. Also contains the single "Pet Sematary", written for the Stephen King movie of the same name. The single became one of the Ramones' biggest radio hits, and a staple in their concerts during the 1990's. The final Ramones album recorded for Sire Records (their label from day one), Brain Drain was sadly also the last to feature bassist and creative leader Dee Dee Ramone. | " |
